"For a special person, a special moment should be done in a very special place," Codoner told Daily Mail. "Asking the love of my life to marry me was a moment that really needed to be something outstanding."

That something outstanding turned out to be a trip to Cabo Raso in Argentina's Chubut Province. Codoner and his girlfriend, Barby, trekked to an area with little light pollution and set up camp, according to DailyMail.

The journey may have appeared another astrophotography mission to Barby. Codoner is the official astrophotographer for Planetario Ciudad de La Plata in Argentina and runs a Facebook page, Milky Way Addicted, where he posts his images.

However, when Codoner dropped to one knee, it became clear this was no ordinary stargazing trip.

"Barby and I are both very passionate about astronomy," Codoner told Daily Mail. "We felt that strong connection and it was each other's love for the stars that joined our hearts like colliding galaxies."

The astrophotographer shared a photo of his proposal on his Facebook, where it picked up more than 2,700 likes and was shared more than 150 times
