PHOTOS: Portraits of Ugandan Animals by Jonne Seijdel

Photographer Jonne Seijdel typically focuses on one animal during his trips overseas. He has photographed the whale shark in the Philippines, the Komodo dragon in Indonesia and in Uganda, Seijdel's eye was on the three-horned chameleon.

"The three-horned chameleon is wonderful to admire in real life. The prehistoric appearance and the remarkable behavior, like their independently moving eyes, is fascinating to see," Seijdel said in an interview with weather.com.

Although the chameleon was Seijdel's main focus in Uganda, he also captured some beautiful images of animals on safari.

"Not just the well-known elephants, rhinos and apes are under pressure, but also the lesser-known animals like the Komodo dragon, tarsier and many species of amphibians," the photographer said.

Seijdel explained that he likes to highlight creatures that we don't hear about every day.

"Nature is overwhelming and unbeatable, but is also under immense pressure from human action. As a photographer, I travel the world in search for areas with balance between man and nature," he said.

On Seijdel's list for future projects are the giant salamander in Japan, the tree-kangaroo in Papua New Guinea and the sea otter in British Columbia. For more information visit Jonne Seijdel's website.
