Severe Storms Drop Hail, Tornado Warnings Across the U.S. (PHOTOS)

Severe thunderstorms continue to threaten parts of the Gulf Coast toward the Mississippi Valley Wednesday after roughly 350 reports of severe weather were received by National Weather Service offices Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The possibility for a few tornados remains.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for parts of southeast Texas and Louisiana. Numerous downed trees and powerlines have been reported this morning from Magnolia to Montgomery to Willis, Texas, as well as wind gusts up to 59 mph in Conroe, Texas.

Tuesday night saw five tornados, as well as several severe thunderstorms across the Plains and parts of the Midwest. Hail up to 4 inches in diameter was reported near Bremen, Kansas on Tuesday evening. Wind gusts of over 70 mph were observed in southern Oklahoma and parts of northern Texas, bringing power outages to about 25,000 across Oklahoma. A derecho hit Missouri, leaving 28,000 without power Tuesday afternoon. Several homes were left damaged in the areas of Howe, Bells and Whitesboro, Texas after a suspected tornado touched down. Four were hospitalized after their vehicles were caught in the tornado, according to the Associated Press.

Another round of severe storms may hit the southern and central U.S. Thursday, lasting into the weekend.
