Storms and tornadoes swept through the South Sunday in an outbreak of severe weather that persisted into Monday. The dangerous weather also brought large hail, damaging winds and flash floods to parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, where tens of thousands lost power.

Two people were killed Sunday morning by an EF1 tornado that damaged their mobile home near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. The victims were identified as Francine Gotch and her 3-year-old daughter, Neville Alexander, who were inside the trailer when the storm hit at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Two more deaths were reported in Mississippi, where a woman died after her vehicle was carried away by floodwaters in Rankin County Monday morning and another woman was killed Sunday night after a tree fell onto her home in Glendora.

A fifth fatality was reported in Union, South Carolina, after strong winds flipped a mobile home Monday afternoon, killing the person inside.

Flooding was reported Sunday night in Vicksburg, Mississippi, where water rescues were reported. As the storms continued to dump big rainfall totals Monday morning, several homes were evacuated in Rankin County as floodwaters rose.

A brief tornado was reported Sunday morning in Center Point, Texas, while golf-ball sized hail was seen near Buffalo, Texas. Water rescues were underway in Del Rio, Texas, early Sunday morning as heavy rain hit the area, and more structural damage was reported in the Austin area, near Lake Travis.
