Deadly flooding forced more than 1.2 million people to evacuate their homes in southern China this week. At least 56 people were killed, according to China's Ministry of Civil Affairs. 22 people are reported missing.

Almost 20 inches of rain has fallen in the last week, triggering landslides and flooding that have affected more than 11 million people in the 11 southern provinces. The Yangtze River, as well as 60 other rivers have risen above warning levels, BBC reported. Floodwaters have caused damage to crops and homes near the Yangtze River.

Dozens of flights were canceled or delayed in airports throughout Chengdu, Changsha, Guangzhou and Shenzhen due to the storms, leaving thousands stranded. Trains were halted and roads closed due to flooding as well. Several power outages were reported in affected areas.
