25 Cities with the Best Drivers

Most people think (and readily announce to any potential passengers), “I’m a great driver!” Substantiating these claims is more challenging. Thankfully, a new study has arrived to clear up any confusion.

Allstate’s annual America’s Best Drivers Report is out and it catalogs the U.S. cities with the best drivers, based on frequency of driving accidents and safest driving records.

The statistics in Allstate’s 2014 study are culled from averages on how many years residents in each city go between the incidence of major accidents. The national average is 10 years.

According to the National Safety Council, some of the best ways drivers can avoid life-threatening accidents are by practicing defensive driving, wearing seat belts at all times and staying focused on the road.

Numbers from Allstate’s tenth anniversary study suggest that the heartland produces better drivers than the coasts. Maybe it’s the water making people antsy?
