Heavy thunderstorms rolled through central Indiana Wednesday evening.

The Carmel, Indiana, Fire Department reported several water rescues Wednesday evening.

Flash flooding hit areas around Indianapolis Wednesday evening as heavy thunderstorms moved through the area.

The Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency and the Carmel Fire Department tweeted that several water rescues were underway right around rush hour. A dispatcher told weather.com that there had been no reports of injuries.

The National Weather Service reported that nearly 2 inches of rain fell in two hours in Fishers, also in Hamilton County. Much of the area was already saturated. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain had fallen on parts of central and southern Indiana in the three previous days, according to the NWS.

Tree limbs and power lines were down a few miles to the north in Noblesville. There were no reports of widespread power outages, according to poweroutage.us.

Trees and power lines were down in some areas, and a house fire in Fishers, northeast of the city, was blamed on a lightning strike, CBS4 reported.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
