Wet Pattern Ahead

Multiple systems will cross the Lower 48 states this week, bringing more wet weather across the South, Plains, Midwest and East.

Temperatures are expected to be warmer than average throughout most of the U.S. this week, which will allow precipitation to fall mostly in the form of rain.

Early-Week System

The first system is now moving across the South and East. Rain and a few rumbles of thunder are possible.

Tuesday's Forecast

Late-Week Setup

Low pressure will move into Southern California and the Southwest early this week and stall over the Southwest through midweek. This will bring much-needed rain to the region.

However, moisture from this system will advance eastward and meet up with a stalled front midweek. This will increase the chance for rain and thunderstorms across parts of the South and Midwest.

Midweek Setup

The area of low pressure in the Southwest will slowly move into the Plains late this week and eventually into the East, keeping the rainy pattern in place into this weekend.

Some thunderstorms could be strong to severe through late this week.

Isolated severe storms are possible from northeast Texas into the lower-Mississippi Valley on Wednesday. The chance of a few severe storms will continue on Thursday from northeast Texas into the Ohio Valley.

Five-Day Forecast

An inch or more of rain is possible through Saturday from parts of northeast Texas and eastern Oklahoma to the Ohio and Tennessee valleys.

Localized flash flooding can't be ruled out in some areas where rain and thunderstorms are most persistent.
