Below is a map of the reports of severe weather, including damaging winds, hail and tornadoes, received by NOAA's Storm Prediction Center over the last 12 hours.

What to expect from today's severe weather threat. Severe weather is most likely from northern Alabama, northern and central Georgia and much of South Carolina northward to the mid-Atlantic, as depicted by the areas shaded red in the map below. That includes Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Some of the severe weather could reach as far north as New York City and upstate New York.

Destructive straight-line winds will topple trees and knock out power. The storms might also produce large hail, flash flooding and isolated tornadoes.

The flash flood threat will also extend into New England, Monday, and could linger into Tuesday in parts of northern New England, including Vermont.

After a short break, another round of severe thunderstorms is possible in the mid-Mississippi Valley and Ozarks Wednesday, pushing into at least parts of the East on Thursday.

It's a bit too early to nail down any additional specifics on this second severe threat. Check back with us at weather.com for updates on this.
