Deadly Tornadoes and Storms Sweep Across South (PHOTOS)

Deadly tornadoes struck the Deep South again Thursday, killing at least one in Florida. On Wednesday, at least seven people were killed in severe storms in the South.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office in Tallahassee said a man was killed by a fallen tree around 7 p.m. on the northeast side of town.

Damage and power outages were reported throughout the city. Crews were still working to clean up and restore power Friday morning.

Several tornadoes and severe storms were reported across North Florida Thursday evening and afternoon. In Okaloosa, the County Sheriff's Office said several trees were down after a reported tornado moved across the county around 3 p.m. EDT. There were also reports of damage to buildings and debris littered the streets in nearby Panama City.

Parts of the state are under severe weather threats again Friday.

Storm damage, tornadoes and flooding were reported Thursday in Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

On Wednesday evening, a large tornado struck Onalaska, Texas, killing three people and injuring 20 to 30, according to Polk County Emergency Management. A disaster declaration was issued for the town.

Two were killed and one person was critically injured when a tornado ripped through Madill, Oklahoma, around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

A man was killed in Mansfield, Louisiana, after he fell into a flooded drainage ditch and was swept away on Wednesday evening, the Shreveport Times reported. The town was experiencing "pretty extreme flooding" according to DeSoto Parish Sheriff Jayson Richardson.

In Rapides Parish, Louisiana, a woman was killed and damage sustained to homes and buildings when a possible tornado swept through the town.

There were 31 reports of tornadoes in the South from late Wednesday into early Thursday morning, most taking place in southern Oklahoma, southeast Texas and central Louisiana.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in central Florida Friday. Another disturbance is expected to produce tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail and flash flooding from the eastern Southern Plains into parts of the lower Mississippi Valley into Friday night.
