Wildfires burning in Northern and Central California once again doubled since Wednesday, growing to more than 200 square miles.

More than two dozen wildfires are burning, and tens of thousands of residents are under evacuation orders.

A series of fires now called the LNU Lightning Complex Fires are burning in Sonoma, Lake, Napa and Solano counties, and were only 5% contained as of Thursday morning, according to CalFire. The fires were sparked by lightning and fueled by an intense heat wave in the state.

Photos show homes, buildings and cars engulfed in flames. At least 50 structures have been destroyed by the fires.

CalFire issued a red flag warning through Thursday night throughout Northeastern California and California's Central Valley as gusty winds and low humidity is expected.

The amount of fires at one time throughout the area has CalFire resources spread thin.

“These conditions aren’t conducive to control of the fire. With as many fires as are going on, the resources are limited to some extent so that does make it a little more difficult to control,” CalFire Capt. Robert Foxworthy said.
