As the winter takes an oddly toasty turn in Texas, the threat of fires has sparked concern throughout parts of the Lone Star State.

“Unusually warm weather combined with dry conditions and gusty winds are causing an elevated fire danger around the southern Plains this weekend,” said weather.com meteorologist Quincy Vagell.

A grass fire, which officials are referring to as the High Line Fire, erupted in Eula Saturday, burning about 640 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

The Callahan County Firefighters Association reported that five residences were destroyed.

Residents of the area were able to return home after evacuation orders issued Saturday were lifted around 9:30 p.m. that night, reports KTAB.

According to the Callahan County Sheriff's office, the fire was likely caused by a spark from an electrical pole.

No injuries have yet been reported from the fire in Eula.
