Winter Storm Pax brought a long swath of ice and snow across the South midweek, with ice accumulating enough in some areas to knock out power for thousands of people, before dumping snow on the Middle Atlantic and Northeast Thursday heading into Friday.

Ice accumulation knocked out power to over a half million customers from Georgia and Alabama to Virginia. Travel has become difficult, if not impossible, in the hardest-hit areas.
