Smoky Mountain Roots, started after the devastating 2016 Gatlinburg wildfires, aims to bring hope and help recovery by planting native trees and sowing seeds in the scorched forest. They also want to keep kudzu and other invasive plants out. A local resident named Cherise Guesford is leading the effort. Here’s why.
