This trash interceptor has been part of an experiment to keep trash from the city of Los Angeles out of the ocean. Since its start last year, it has captured a huge amount of trash. Nonprofit The Ocean Cleanup who develops these interceptors has dispatched a fleet of similar devices in various locations worldwide.
