We will start to see some relief across the Plains, but the ridge of high pressure will keep millions across the eastern half of the country well above average for this time of year. The late summer heat spreads into the Northeast and mid-Atlantic by Friday as highs get close to 90 degrees along I-95 from Philadelphia to Baltimore down to Washington, D.C.
