On Aug. 23, 2025, the moon will reach its new phase, positioning itself in the constellation Leo just north of the sun, rendering it invisible from Earth. This rare event, known as a “Black Moon,” is the third new moon in a season that contains four. It occurs approximately once every 33 months and is notable for its unusual timing rather than any visible spectacle.
