Why Spring Starts On March 1, According To Meteorologists

As we flip the calendar to the first of March, meteorologists in the Northern Hemisphere are welcoming spring with open arms. But not everyone north of the equator celebrates the beginning of spring on this date. Astronomical spring comes much later in March on what is known as the spring equinox. Meteorologist Caitlin Kaiser breaks down the differences between the two and why meteorologists follow a different seasonal calendar.
