Jakub Polomski long dreamed of photographing the stunning landscapes of Iceland. His dream became a reality this year, and though he encourages landscape photographers and travelers alike to see the sites for themselves, he calls his relationship with Iceland "complicated" in an article he wrote for Bored Panda.

Even with such beautiful scenery to capture, there were challenges to photographing the country's spectacular vistas. Some of the obstacles Polomski to overcome included harsh and unpredictable weather, mosquito attacks and nauseating sulphur odors.

"Weather influences light so it's very important in landscape photography," Polomski told weather.com. "I like locations with extreme weather like Iceland. Iceland offers beautiful views, but extreme conditions challenged me almost every day."

Polomski, who is originally from Poland, said that glaciers are his favorite thing to photograph because they are exotic to him.

"Jokulsarlon is my favorite location. It is a glacial lake on the coast where you can feel the arctic spirit," the photographer shared.
