At least two people were killed when more than 10 confirmed tornadoes spawned from a severe weather event that endured through the weekend and into Monday evening.

At least eight of those twisters hit Oklahoma, including at least two from the same supercell that caused significant damage in the south-central part of the state. Numerous homes and buildings were either completely destroyed or suffered heavy damage as the storms struck. A tornado in the Oklahoma town of Katie was rated EF4, the strongest tornado to hit the U.S. since a deadly EF4 in the Dallas area on Dec. 26, 2015. Two tornadoes, which hit near the towns of Sulphur and Bromide, were rated EF3.

The two victims were identified by local media as Chester Barnes, of rural Garvin County, Oklahoma, and Jackie Brooks, of Johnston County, Oklahoma. Both men were 76 years old.
