Winter Storm Ferus, the sixth named winter storm of the 2015-16 season, rushed into the West at the beginning of the week, dumping up to three feet of snow on some areas.

The storm caused major travel problems, especially in the higher elevations, where mountain passes quickly became snow-covered and, in some cases, impassable. Strong winds knocked down trees during the storm, which caused additional travel difficulties and knocked out power to thousands in Oregon.

The winter storm pushed east on Tuesday, giving states like Utah and Montana another shot of snow, on top of what has already been a far snowier season than many parts of the West saw a year ago. While it has proven dangerous in some areas, and avalanche warnings have been issued as all this snow remains unstable, it's providing plenty of snowpack in places that haven't seen much of it in years.

We will update the gallery at the top of this page with the latest images from the areas affected by Ferus, so check back frequently for new photos of this snowstorm.
