Headwinds

The key to hitting low drives is limiting backspin. So tee the ball a little higher. A lower tee might seem logical at first, but that can promote a descending blow that increases backspin. Keep your arms relaxed and let the clubhead glide into the ball.

On approach shots, take one or two extra clubs and play the ball back in your stance but only about an inch back to deloft the club for a low trajectory. Again, swing smoothly.

Tailwinds

The best way to take advantage of a tailwind is to make solid contact. Make sure you don't overswing; instead, use a smooth motion to get the ball up quickly. Try using your 3-wood its extra loft can help the ball ride the wind.

With your irons, start by gauging the wind. If it's light, take one less club and make a smooth swing. If the wind is strong, take two clubs less and swing more aggressively to get the ball up.
