Rain To Exit As NFL Draft Continues In Green Bay

Green Bay is known for its challenging weather during football season. Will any spring showers soak the 2025 NFL Draft adjacent to Lambeau Field?

The 2025 NFL Draft is in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and while a major storm isn't expected, the weather could be a nuisance for at least part of the festivities.

This annual event where players who finished up their college careers are selected by NFL teams will span over three days from Thursday through Saturday. The NFL is expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors for the draft, as well as various festivities around Lambeau Field and the city of Green Bay.

The Forecast Details

  • Friday: We do expect at least some rain Friday, but it should be over by the time the draft resumes Friday evening. So, bring rain gear if you're attending Friday afternoon's pre-draft festivities, just in case. It will also be quite windy, so even if it's not raining, dress for chillier weather.
  • Saturday: This looks like the best weather day, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 50s. There might be a lingering breeze, which could make it feel a little chillier, though.

Can Weather Affect The Draft?

  • The NFL Draft will go on rain or shine. The draft theater, including the stage where the players will walk on stage, has a large overhang that will keep fans with access to the theater dry.
  • However, most fans attending the festivities around the draft - called the NFL Draft Experience - won't have protective cover if it rains.
  • The NFL does have a comprehensive plan in case either high winds or lightning is in play, neither of which are in the forecast.
  • That plan includes a command center with the draft complex staffed by the NFL, local police, fire departments and the National Weather Service.

Past Draft Rain

  • Since 2015, the NFL has moved the draft to different cities around the country, with festivities outdoors.
  • The weather has been mostly cooperative, with a few small exceptions.
  • In 2021, over an inch and a half of rain soaked Cleveland on the first day of the draft.
  • In 2019, showers moved into downtown Nashville during the first round Thursday evening.
  • In 2016, light rain and high temperatures only near 50 degrees were a nuisance for outdoor festivities at Grant Park in Chicago.
