Perfect weather is expected at Augusta National this week, with temperatures climbing from the low 70s Thursday to the mid-80s by Sunday and minimal wind, creating firm, fast conditions that favor elite ball strikers. 22 Masters rookies will compete alongside favorites like Scheffler and DeChambeau.

2026 Masters Top Picks

The event we've all been waiting for is here. Golf's magnum opus, The Masters, is finally upon us. This year's tournament will look a lot different than what we're used to, players-wise at least.

This will be the first Masters tournament since 1994 that neither Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson will play in. Phil Mickelson withdrew from the tournament. And Tiger, well, I'm sure most of us know what happened there. On the bright side, 22 golfers will be making their Masters debut, so a lot of new blood will be competing this week. But we know why you are here, let's talk about the forecast!

Tournament week at Augusta is shaping up to be a beautiful one, weather-wise. And that only adds to the excitement. Temperatures start in the low 70s on Thursday, then climb into the mid-80s by Sunday. Wind? Light. 5 to 10 mph max. Rain? None is expected! The course is going to play firm all week, which means no soft landings. No easy outs. Just pure ball-striking and skill. This is great news to those attending, as the weather at Augusta has been a bit crazy lately.

This setup favors elite iron players. Guys who can control trajectory and spin. Golfers who can't shape their shot and land it clean, this won't be a good weekend for them. The Masters will come down to putting, especially before the first cut.

Saturday and Sunday temperatures peak, the heat climbs and that's when we'll see who really has it. The players who stay sharp mentally and physically? They'll separate late. The ones who fade? You'll see it coming.

The pressure, more than anything, ruins golfers at the end. A clutch gene will be needed here to bring home the trophy. The weather's not stopping anyone. It's just sorting out the physically and mentally weak. Now for what you all have been waiting for: the picks.

The favorite across every betting site is, of course, Scottie Scheffler. He won't look like it this weekend. Fade him. He skipped the Houston Open because of the birth of his daughter last month. Before that? It hasn't been pretty. At the Players, he finished tied for 22nd. Before the Players at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he finished tied for 24th. Scheffler is not in form right now, and nobody wants to admit it. I'll bite the bullet.

For a top 10 finish, I'm going to pick Bryson DeChambeau (+102). At the Masters, he's been steadily improving year after year. In 2024, he finished tied for sixth; in 2025, he finished in the top five. A lot of bets are coming in on him to win the Masters, but his issue is always closing, and I foresee more of the same. At least you will double your money with a top 10 finish.

Cameron Young (+395) is my pick for a top-five finish. Young has been playing some of the best golf of his career, riding momentum from a statement win at The Players Championship last month. That victory came on the heels of a strong stretch, including a seventh-place finish at the Genesis Invitational and a third-place showing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, proving that he is one of the best golfers in the world, and he's playing some good golf at the perfect time. People are scared of him at the Masters because he has struggled on this course, including missing the cut altogether last year. I think this will be the year he breaks through.

And my outright winner? You should know where I'm going. Ludvig Aberg (+1750). Ludvig Aberg made a huge impression on his first trip to Augusta, finishing solo second in his Masters debut in 2024, just four shots behind winner Scottie Scheffler. It was a performance that showed both his ceiling and his inexperience, as a few rookie mistakes came at the exact moment Scheffler began to pull away. He followed that up with another strong showing last year, finishing seventh at -6. Obviously, he loves playing at Augusta National.

And he's arriving this year in even better form. Åberg has not finished outside the top five in his last three starts, including a top-three finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. At the 2026 THE PLAYERS Championship, he reminded everyone who he is by tying the TPC Sawgrass course record for nine holes with a blistering 7-under 29 on the front side.

The only thing missing has been closing. But Augusta has a way of rewarding players who keep putting themselves in position, and Åberg has done that consistently. This feels like the week he finally breaks through, overcomes those final-round demons, and cements himself as the next great young star in the game.
