The Biggest One on Record

Jeff Thomason has beaten the world record for catching the biggest Mako shark.

Using bow arrows, he waited half an hour just off Huntington Beach, California before the shark swam close enough to shoot.

It took five people half an hour to get the shark into the boat.

And for good reason: The shark weighs in at an incredible 809.5 pounds!

The catch has been approved by the Bowfishing Association of america as the new record.

Thomason and his crew say they donated about 400 pounds of shark meat to local shelters.

He stresses, this type of shark is not endangered, and there was no “finning” or removal of the shark’s fin in the process.
