Skydive on a Perfect Sunny Day Takes Unexpected Turn (VIDEO)

It was a perfect, sunny day for a skydive, but things turned ugly fast.

Luke Godfrey was surrounded by clear blue skies during his controlled skydive above Cape Town, South Africa, last Saturday.

Despite calm winds, his parachute started to malfunction, the NY Daily News reports. As you see in the video above, as he struggled to regain composure, the skydiver's helmet cam slipped off into a freefall.

Godfrey was able to right himself and pull his reserve cord, eventually landing safely.

Over 3,000 feet later, the skydiver's helmet cam landed on a nearby rugby field and continued recording.

A group of teenagers eventually found the camera and you can see their reactions to the surprise discovery at the end of the video above.
