British Columbia Ski Resorts Are Buried, Here's How Much Snow Has Fallen

In partnership with

The atmospheric river that's hit Coastal BC and the American Pacific Northwest with torrential rain has stayed cold enough to deliver an epic storm to interior British Columbia. Parts of BC have seen nearly two feet of snow in the last 24 hours alone, and many of the resorts in the interior have picked up healthy totals. Kicking Horse, Whitewater, and SilverStar all have opening days this week. This storm has given them a fantastic base to kick things off with. According to our buds at Powderchasers, the next bit of this storm should be particularly fruitful for Revelstoke as well as nearby Alberta resorts like Banff Sunshine and Lake Louise, with totals of 1.5-2.5 feet (46-76cm) expected this weekend. Keep reading for a few of the BC ski areas that have benefitted the most over the last couple days.

Kicking Horse

Kicking Horse has been happily reaping the benefits of the latest atmospheric river and the timing is great with the resort planning to open for the season on Friday, December 12. As of Thursday, December 11, the resort had recorded 16cm of snow overnight, 26cm in the last 24 hours, and 35cm in the last 48 hours. That's more than a foot of snow! Going into opening day, Kicking Horse is rocking a healthy 137cm (54-inch) base.

Revelstoke

Revelstoke has had an amazing start to their season—the resort opened just four days ago, and it's been pow days with free refills all week. The BC ski area has already gotten 374cm (147 inches) of snow this season, with 42cm falling in the last 48 hours alone, according to the resort website's snow report. In other words, the Gnome is just about buried! Over this coming weekend, Revy could pick up an additional foot of snow, with 3-6 inches falling on Saturday alone.

SilverStar

SilverStar started spinning lifts for the season just in time with a December 11 opening day and 20cm overnight to celebrate. Over the last five days, SilverStar has gotten 52cm in total, 32cm of which fell in the last two days, bringing their base depth to 89cm for the season. This next storm should continue to deliver to SilverStar as well with 8" forecasted over the next five days.

Whitewater Mountain Resort

Whitewater Mountain Resort is also opening on Friday, December 12 for the 2025/26 ski season and with 299cm (117 inches) of snowfall already this year. In the last 48 hours, Whitewater has gotten 37cm of snow, with 14cm falling in just the last 24 hours. There's another possible 10" of snow on the way over the next five days and even more after that.

Panorama Resort

Panorama got their fair share of the storm that seemed to wallop interior BC with 40cm of snow falling in the last 48 hours, and 18cm overnight. The ski area got so much snow overnight on December 11, that it caused several power outages around the resort. Luckily, crews that worked through the night were able to get lifts spinning by 9:45am. While it might warm up a little bit near Panorama, another 6" could fall in the next 5 days, helping them build out a solid base this season.
