Homes reduced to debris, shredded buildings, waterlogged neighborhoods. Photos show what parts of Florida look like after Hurricane Milton tore through with powerful storm surge, heavy rain, strong winds and tornadoes.

The storm made landfall as a Category 3 major hurricane near Siesta Key Wednesday night, Oct. 9. As it came ashore, Milton brought major flooding and damaging winds to the coastline, and then it pushed across the state and wreaked more havoc.

More than a dozen deaths have been blamed on the storm.
