The system moved west towards eastern North Carolina before turning north away from land in the following days. Wind shear and dry air prevented the system from ever reaching tropical storm strength.

Impacts were minor in North Carolina's Outer Banks, limited to some rainfall, gusty winds and rough surf.

The final advisory was issued by the National Hurricane Center on Sept. 1, 2016.
