  • Tropical Depression Eight brushed eastern North Carolina in late August 2016.
  • The system battled dry and wind shear, preventing it from ever gaining tropical storm status.

Tropical Depression Eight formed on Aug. 28, 2016 between Bermuda and eastern North Carolina.

The system moved west towards eastern North Carolina before turning north away from land in the following days. Wind shear and dry air prevented the system from ever reaching tropical storm strength.

Impacts were minor in North Carolina's Outer Banks, limited to some rainfall, gusty winds and rough surf.

The final advisory was issued by the National Hurricane Center on Sept. 1, 2016.
