Be on the lookout for powerful storms that could turn severe if you live in the upper Midwest or Northern Plains. The storms will fire up Friday afternoon and will persist in some areas into the evening, so keep that in mind as you plan your commute. Damaging winds and hail are the primary threat, but a tornado can’t be ruled out, so be sure your severe weather alerts are activated on The Weather Channel app. Flash flooding will also be a concern with this system.
