Strong Storms, Flooding Possible In The South

May 7, 2025

Severe storms and a significant risk for flash flooding will impact portions of the South through Tuesday night. Strong storms with heavy rainfall are expected across central and eastern Texas, then will push eastward into Louisiana. Places like Austin, Waco, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston could face damaging winds, large hail up to 2 inches in diameter, and the potential for isolated, strong tornadoes is also possible. Along with the severe storm threat, flash flooding is likely, with heavy rainfall expected on already saturated ground. The flash flooding potential is highest from eastern Texas to Mississippi, including most of Louisiana. Watch this video to see the timing of when the strongest storms are expected.
