What was once Nesat dissipated to a remnant low over eastern China, then Haitang swamped southern Taiwan with heavy rainfall.

Particularly hard hit was Pingtung County in the southern tip of Taiwan, where over 36 inches of rain fell in about two days' time in Dahanshan. Ten other locations in the county picked up at least 600 millimeters (just shy of 2 feet) of rain in that same time period, according to the Taiwan Central Weather Bureau.

Both Nesat and Haitang were embedded in a larger-scale gyre of low pressure that also brought flooding rain to Luzon in the northern Philippines, including the country's capital city, Manila.
