Updated 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26

Despite the threat of a foot of snow, Winter Storm Juno dropped just a few inches on Philadelphia and other major cities in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The highest totals were along the coast, with some towns in New Jersey such as Hazlet and Lincroft in Monmouth County reporting 7 inches and Brick Township in Ocean County reporting 6 inches. Philadelphia and its surrounds experienced a light dusting, with highest reported totals reaching 3 inches in Lehigh and Monroe Counties about an hour north of Philly. Delaware and Maryland saw just an inch.

Ahead of the storm, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter had closed municipal offices and schools Tuesday and canceled trash collection for the day. SEPTA, the city’s public transit, kept trains running, but on a Saturday schedule. The snow emergency was lifted Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m., according to the Office of Emergency Management, meaning normal parking can resume along the emergency routes.

Though Philadelphia International Airport canceled more than 800 flights for today, the airport never closed, offering pillows, blankets, food and other amenities to those people forced to spend the night there. Travelers needing to find out about their flight status today can call 800-PHL-GATE or visit phl.org

In New Jersey, where a snow emergency had been declared, Governor Chris Christie this morning lifted the travel ban put in place last night at 11 p.m. for traveling south of Interstate 195.
