February 1, 2026Updated: February 1, 2026, 10:05 am ESTPublished: February 1, 2026, 10:05 am EST

While Winter Storm Gianna will slam the Carolinas, steering currents will push the storm away from the Northeast. While the bulk of the snowfall will stay offshore, parts of Massachusetts will get grazed by some outer bands of the storm. The primary threats for the Northeast are gusty winds and coastal flooding. Scattered coastal flood alerts are in effect for parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, while gusty winds potentially over 30 mph could knock down power lines and bring dangerous wind chills. Here’s the latest forecast.
