Photographer Creates Awe-Inspiring Images Using Star Wars Iconography

In Thomas Dagg's incredible mind, AT-ATs roam free in the city, Tauntauns hang out in snowy residential streets and Darth Vader gets around by streetcar.

The Toronto-based photographer pays homage to his childhood imagination in his recent collection, "Star Wars." Dagg skillfully edits Star Wars characters and motifs into photos otherwise depicting everyday life.

"I used to sketch these sorts of things often. I really wanted to share with people what my mind was at 8 years old; an incredibly obsessed boy,"Dagg said in an interview with Petapixel. "It was actually a really fun exercise to go back inside my head back then; such a simple time. I actually used the figures that I played with every day for a lot of the composites, too."

Many of Dagg's childhood memories are intertwined with his passion for the Star Wars trilogy. He remembers first renting the tapes from the video store, receiving figurines for Christmas and hurting himself while crafting a storm trooper helmet.

The photographer uses different focal lengths so that the real life back-grounds and the 5-inch toys have a matched perspective and angle. Dagg also had to play with lighting and shadows to blend the objects into the photos.

"I wanted to feel like these could actually happen," Dagg told Petapixel. "Since in my head at 8 they definitely did."
