"Overnight into Thursday morning, snowfall accumulations will remain light throughout much of the New York metro, though 1" accumulations are likely across Long Island. Light snow showers will likely fall during the morning commute on Thursday," weather.com meteorologist Chrissy Warrilow said. "By Thursday afternoon, the sun will return and temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and low 40s, but once the sun sets, temperatures will plummet below freezing. Any lingering moisture on roadways and overpasses will refreeze, producing the potential for black ice overnight Thursday into Friday morning."

After Thursday, however, New York City is still not off the hook. Winter Storm Iola, which already began to affect the Southwest starting Wednesday, could bring heavy snowfall to the entire East Coast this weekend.
