In a sign that we're rapidly moving toward winter, a festive and beloved winter market in New York City has opened for the season.

Manhattan residents and visitors can once again lace up their skates and browse festive shops as Bryant Park's Winter Village officially launched its seasonal operations this weekend, transforming the Midtown green space into a bustling holiday destination.

The annual winter transformation brings together ice skating, shopping and dining in what has become one of New York City's most popular cold-weather attractions. The village will continue operations through early spring, offering months of winter entertainment in the heart of the Big Apple.

Shoppers can explore approximately 60 vendor stalls scattered between 40th and 42nd streets, where local artisans and merchants sell everything from handcrafted jewelry to vintage goods and home décor items. The holiday market maintains extended hours throughout the week, staying open until 8 p.m. most days, with weekend hours starting earlier to accommodate increased foot traffic.

At the center of the winter village sits the popular ice skating rink, which welcomes visitors daily with free admission from morning until evening.

While skating itself costs nothing, it's renting the equipment that will get you, with fees ranging from around $19 to over $60, depending on the type of skates selected. Most skating sessions last approximately 50 minutes and require advance reservations, though the facility also offers lessons for skaters of all skill levels.

Food enthusiasts will find seven different dining options housed within The Lodge, the village's central food hall. The venue operates from midmorning until evening and features everything from casual grab-and-go options to sit-down establishments, including a rinkside bar that offers prime people-watching opportunities.

For visitors seeking a more intimate winter experience, the village offers private igloo rentals that can accommodate up to eight guests. These heated spaces come with food and beverage packages and provide a cozy retreat, though access to the skating rink requires separate admission.
