There won't be any post-Thanksgiving sales at North Kansas City's Metro North Mall this Black Friday. The mall, which opened its doors to shoppers in 1976, has been left to decline for decades and eventually abandoned in 2014.

Photographer Seph Lawless, who has explored and photographed abandoned malls and other venues for his book, Autopsy of America: The Death of a Nation, recently visited the Missouri mall just weeks before it was demolished and captured eerie images of its shuttered shops, broken escalators, and crumbling ceilings.

"[The mall] was by far the creepiest place I've ever step foot in," Lawless said.

In his blog post for the Huffington Post, Lawless said the area will be revamped into an outdoor shopping area.
