50 Stunning Places to See in Latin America (PHOTOS)

Latin America is made up of 22 Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries from Central and South America and is home to many jaw-dropping sites worthy of anyone’s bucket list.

There are several stunning waterfalls that can be found in this region of the world, including Angel Falls, the worlds highest waterfall, and Mocona Falls, which runs parallel, rather than perpendicular, to the Uruguay river. Adventurous tourists can head to Cerro Negro and “volcano-board” down Central America’s youngest (but still active) volcano. Meanwhile, divers should head to Ambergris Caye and discover the beautiful reef that runs offshore of Belize.

These 22 countries are also home to numerous, exotic creatures, including jaguars, flamingos, and monkeys. Wildlife-lovers should head to Galapagos Islands to see the place that inspired Charles Darwin and meet an ancient tortoise. At Isla Martillo, they can book a tour to walk among the penguins, while at Laguna Colorada in Bolivia, they can see one of the last populations of the nearly-extinct breed of flamingo, the James Flamingo.
