At a Glance

  • A new micro-home allows you to travel in luxury while staying green.
  • 50 Ecocapsules will be delivered to customers later this year.

Even if you plan on roughing it, you can still spend the night in style with the new Ecocapsule.

The mobile micro-home is about 8 feet high, 7 feet long and 14 and a half feet wide, yet still contains a folding bed, bathroom, kitchenette and living area. It's also eco-friendly, thanks to rooftop solar cells, a small wind turbine and a mechanism that repurposes rainwater for drinking. The Ecocapsule can be towed by a trailer or sent anywhere in a shipping container.

Ecocapsule, which is based in Slovakia, just announced that it secured financial backing to move forward with the micro-home. Its first run of 50 pods will be delivered to customers later this year. The company plans to start mass-producing them next year for a lower price.
