Set to open to the public on June 24, the 584-foot long slide, designed by artist Carsten Höller (developing on an initial proposal by Blur Architecture), is part of the 377-foot high Orbit, which was designed by sculptor Anish Kapoor for the 2012 London Olympics.

The slide is made up of 30 sections, and will have 12 turns, including a tight corkscrew twist. The slide, which has a top speed of 15 miles per hour, wraps on one side of the Orbit, descends in 40 seconds, and ends with a 164-foot straight drop to the bottom.

A ride on the attraction costs $22-$25.

Visitors who would rather not slide down the tower after enjoying the views from the observation decks, can still safely climb down the Orbit. The towering structure, which is 72 feet taller than New York's Statue of Liberty, features a 1,150ft-long spiral staircase with 455 steps, which will take approximately 12 minutes to climb down.
