Photographer Kazuki Sato found the perfect spot to capture pastel fog.

"There was hardly any movement in the fog, so it was really smooth," Sato said.

Initially, Sato took photos from Muse Park, located in Chichibu, but later decided to go higher up the region. Chichibu is located roughly three hours away from Tokyo. Known for its hot springs and lush forests, Chichibu is a completely different scenery from the skyscrapers and neon lights of Tokyo.

"It looked like a sea of clouds as I headed towards the mountain," he said.

Whereas the lights would be stark up close, the sea of clouds or "unkai" in Japanese, filter the neon lights to create soft hues of pink, blue and green.

Sato plans on returning in November, when the unkai is said to be the best.
