Flower blooms are one of the biggest highlights of Spring. Just 40 miles from Phoenix, the Superstition Mountains burst into color as multitudes of wild Mexican poppies and Lupine bloom. Meanwhile, towns across the country celebrate the arrival of the warmer weather and floral blooms by throwing festivals, such as the Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa. And of course, each year, nature lovers eagerly await the famous Cherry Blossoms, which can be seen in New York at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Visitors can even plan their trip with peak bloom by checking the Botanic Garden’s website for updates.

Spring is also a favorite season for bird-watchers, who can not only spot new fledglings as they hatch, but also witness impressive migrations such as the Sandhill crane migration in the Nebraska Flyways, which peaks in early spring when millions of these beautiful birds - about 80 percent of the world’s population - arrive in the Platte River Valley, according to NebraskaFlyway.com. The season also brings numerous birding festivals, including the Down East Spring Birding Festival in Cobscook Bay, Maine. The festival offers numerous bird-watching tours and hikes to see numerous native bird species during their migration and breeding season, including puffins.

Of course, the season isn’t only a good time to spot birds. Animal-lovers can also go whale-watching off the coast of California for an opportunity to see grey whales during their annual migration, or they can meet baby farm animals up close at the Minnesota Zoo.
