One destination not to miss is Yosemite National Park because spring is when the park’s stunning waterfalls, swollen from snowmelt, are most impressive. Peak runoff is typically in May or June, according to the National Park Service, and some, such as Yosemite Falls, are only a trickle (or are completely dry) by August. Victoria Falls, located at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, is also best visited in spring because that is when it is at peak flood. In fact, according to Namibia Tours & Safaris, in April the spray from the falls is so thick that it is difficult to see your own outstretched hand.

Divers should head to Grüner See (Green Lake), a beautiful emerald green lake that every spring becomes a popular diving spot. Beginning in mid-May, the lake doubles its size as snow and ice melts from the nearby mountains and runs down into the basin, engulfing most of the surrounding park and submerging benches, bridges, park trails, and even alpine flowers that are still blooming.

May is the dry season in India, making it a great time to take a tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park, one of the country’s largest national parks and best tiger reserves. During this season, visitors have a better chance of seeing the big cats near watering holes. Back in the United States, bird lovers can witness the stunning Sandhill Crane Migration in Nebraska at Platte River, where about 80 percent of the world’s population of these birds descend on the area, covering vast expanses of sky with millions of flapping wings.

Of course, flower blooms are always one of the biggest highlights of spring all around the world, from the cherry blossom blooms in Japan to the tulip fields of the Netherlands. If in search of wildflowers, there is no better place to go than the Superstition Mountains to see millions of wild Mexican poppies and Lupine bloom across this Arizona desert. In addition, the Enis Bluebonnet trails of Texas, which feature roads through vast fields of blue, make for the perfect spring road trip.
