Southern California: Dangerous Flooding Possible This Week

The threat of flash flooding in Southern California has been increased to level 4 of 4 for Christmas Eve, according to the Weather Prediction Center. The threat is highest for the foothills and south-facing mountains of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, especially where rain falls over burn scars from major fires such as the Eaton Fire and the Palisades Fire. Widespread rainfall totals are expected to reach 4 to 7 inches in an 18-hour period, and isolated areas could receive in excess of 9 inches of rain. Holiday travelers should remain cautious and allow for extra travel time when hitting the roads.
