The world’s largest organism isn’t a blue whale. It is a colony of aspen trees in Utah’s Fishlake National Park. Scientists discovered through DNA testing that the 47,000 trees that make up this stand are genetically identical and share a common root system. Named Pando, for the Latin word meaning “I spread,” the colony of trees may be able to reproduce itself indefinitely.
