...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 PM MDT SATURDAY... WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 65 to 85 mph on Thursday. WHERE...The Highwood, Little Belt, Judith, and Snowy Mountains. WHEN...From 6 AM this morning to 6 PM MDT Saturday. IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Those in the backcountry should ensure they are prepared for dangerous conditions. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will be a mult-day snowfall, with lulls in the snow at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and southwest Montana. WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT this evening. IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be very difficult to dangerous, especially for high profile or light weight vehicles. Blowing dust or snow could significantly reduce visibility at times. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most intense are likely to occur through 2 PM Thursday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Those traveling with high profile or light weight vehicles should consider delaying travel or find an alternate route.
