...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 6 to 10 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow today. WHERE...Northern Cayuga and Oswego Counties. The greatest accumulation will be in the far northern end of Cayuga county and the southern half of Oswego county. WHEN...Until 8 AM EDT Wednesday. IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds will down tree branches and cause isolated power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.

...ICY CONDITIONS THIS MORNING... The combination of several inches of snow and rapidly falling temperatures overnight has resulted in widespread hardpack and icy conditions on roads, even on major interstate routes. The icy and very slippery conditions will persist through the morning commute. Slow down and allow plenty of extra time to reach your destination. The high March sun angle should allow for improving conditions by midday as pavement temperatures warm.
