...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18... WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. WHERE...East Fork White River at Williams. WHEN...Until Wednesday, March 18. IMPACTS...At 14.9 feet, On April 24, 2011 extensive flooding in progress with SR 450 between Bedford and Shoals flooded in at least 3 locations. The deepest location was just east of Williams near the RR tressel. The next deepest was at Coxton Rd where backwater from the river extensively flooded Salt Creek. The last location was west of Williams near Dillman Rd where backwater from the river closed the road. To reach Williams one must use Ridge Road. Extensive flooding of many local river roads in Lawrence Co. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - There is no current observed data. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage Wednesday, March 18 and continue falling and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

The initial crest on the East Fork is at Shoals, with an additional lower secondary crest expected at Seymour on Saturday and working its way downriver from there. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind. The county bridge locally known as the Buddha bypass bridge becomes inaccessible. Several local roads are flooded including Duncan Rd/Tunnelton Rd, Fort Ritner at the underpass and post office, Old Buddha Rd, Tunnelton Rd at the railroad crossing and West Sparksville Bridge Rd. IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, Beginning April 25, 2011 and continuing through May 8, 2011 three county roads were closed because of East Fork White River flooding in northern Dubois County.
