Description

Hazardous winter conditions are expected. Heavy snow with freezing precipitation and strong winds are expected. Locations: western, central, and northern Newfoundland including parts of the northeast coast. Total snowfall: 15 to 25 cm with 35 cm over higher terrain. Freezing rain duration: 3 to 6 hours. Total freezing rain amounts: 2 to 5 mm with 10 mm locally. Maximum wind gusts: southeasterly 50 km/h, except 80 to 100 km/h along parts of the coast in locally enhanced downslope flow. Time span: overnight tonight and Thursday. Remarks: After several hours of snow, at times heavy, the snow will transition to a mixture of snow and ice pellets Thursday morning. Precipitation will then transition to several hours of freezing rain, before finally changing to rain or drizzle by Thursday afternoon or evening. Local enhancement in southeasterly flow typically occurs in the vicinities of Cape St. George, Port au Port Bay, the outer Bay of Islands, Trout River Bay, Bonne Bay, Western Brook Pond, St. Paul's Bay, Parson's Pond River, and St. John Bay. ### Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate.
